Our Awards and Recognitions of Excellence honor those who demonstrate exceptional service, leadership, integrity, and commitment to the real estate industry.

REALTOR® OF THE YEAR

The purpose of the Kentucky REALTOR® of the Year program is to recognize an active member of the Local Association/Board who has provided outstanding service to their profession and their community. This service need not be confined to activity during the preceding or present year but his/her time as an Association/Board member.  The Kentucky REALTORS® set the qualifications, which should be followed verbatim. A nomination form will be made available to the membership, and all nominations must be submitted before April 30th of each year.

The local winner is then submitted to KYR for consideration as a KYR REALTOR® of the Year nominee, and the State winner is sent to the National Association.

(1) Each Local Association/Board may submit only one nominee for the Kentucky REALTOR® of the Year. (This nominee may be the Local Association’s/ Board’s REALTOR® of the Year or it may be another active REALTOR® whose participation in the State Association’s activities is believed worthy of recognition.)

(2) Any REALTOR® member of Kentucky REALTORS® may submit the name of another REALTOR® for consideration.

BASIS OF SELECTION: In selecting the Kentucky REALTOR® of the Year, the following categories will be considered:
(1) REALTOR® spirit,
(2) Local Association/ Board activity,
(3) Kentucky REALTORS® activity,
(4) Service on the National level,
(5) Business and education experience and
(6) Civic activity.


WALL OF HONOR

The Wall of Honor Special Task Group shall consist of all former recipients of this award and one person appointed by the current President who has not been a recipient. The previous year’s recipient shall be the chairperson, if applicable. Otherwise, the President will nominate the sitting chair of the task group. The award criteria are typically the same as REALTOR® of the Year plus the following:

1. Member of the Association for at least ten years and has served with distinction.
2. Previously President of the Greater Louisville Association of REALTORS® or Metro Search, Inc., or prior REALTOR® of the Year and continued to serve the Association.
3. Heavy emphasis on being a reputable role model and mentor to other Real Estate Professionals.
4. This award does not have to be awarded annually.

The Wall of Honor Special Task Group shall have a minimum of five members. The President can appoint additional members to serve on the task force if necessary.


JOHN R. CARPENTER COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

The John R. Carpenter Award intends to honor a member who serves the community above and beyond the call to duty and goes to great lengths to serve civic or charitable interests.

This award does not have to be awarded annually, and prior award recipients may not be considered candidates for the award again. A nomination form will be made available to the membership, and all nominations must be submitted by the due date.

GLAR LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Leader of the Year Award is designed for a GLAR primary member who exceedingly serves and has a significant impact within the real estate profession, association and surrounding communities. This standout member commitment to leadership, professional development and the industry is evident through association volunteer, service and advocacy. Current board members are not eligible.

Some of the considerations for the candidate include:

  • GLAR member in good standing for 6+ consecutive years.
  • Demonstrate REALTOR® Spirit with high principles of integrity, adherence to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.
  • Reputable amongst fellow members and the general public.
  • Demonstrated professional accomplishments, such as successful projects, awards, recognition, publication features, significant contributions to the industry, etc.
  • Civic Activity – Local level participation in civic and service clubs, charitable activities, political commissions, or fraternal or religious groups.
  • Business Accomplishments – Public recognition of business conduct, service to clients, imaginative and creative advertising programs, rehabilitation work, land utilization, etc.
  • Active service within the association (participate in events, serve(d) on association and industry-wide committees, etc.)
  • State and national participation is a plus.

AFFILIATE OF THE YEAR

This award is presented to one (1) affiliate member or company who has gone above and beyond in service to GLAR and the real estate industry during the current year(s). This award does not have to be awarded annually.


PRESIDENT’S AWARD

Such award(s) will be presented at the Installation Event or Annual Meeting and awardee(s) are at the prerogative of the President.  No one else should be a party to this decision.


ADVOCACY CHAMPION AWARD

The Advocacy Champion Award is based on the outstanding contributions of a local REALTOR®, affiliate or public policy official who advocates for local, state and/or national legislative industry priorities, as well as maintains the REALTOR® Party spirit of Vote, Act, Invest.

Qualifications:
Nominated or self-nominated. Major investors or above are strongly considered.

The awardees are selected by the GLARPAC Board of Trustees and does not have to be awarded annually.


NEXT-GEN OF REAL ESTATE AWARD

This award recognizes an emerging leader within the Greater Louisville Association of REALTORS® whose early professional accomplishments distinguish them as a future leader in the industry and beyond through their service, commitment, leadership, responsibility, creativity and impact.

  • Primary GLAR member in good standing, with five (5) consecutive years of membership or less.
  • 40 years and younger.
  • Demonstrated community and industry contributions.
  • Proven consistent sales and/or industry growth.
  • Active engagement within GLAR’s YPN community.
  • Active servantship on a GLAR committee(s) of at least 2 of the past 5 years.

FAIR HOUSING CHAMPION AWARD

The Fair Housing Champion Award is established to honor an outstanding member or entity that has worked within their local or regional areas to promote programs and/or support the creation of more affordable housing opportunities. This award is designed to celebrate the honoree(s) contributions, inspire fellow REALTORS®, and highlight “Champions” who are “being the change” in their communities. This award will be presented at the annual Fair Housing & DEI Summit.

Individual or corporate 501 c-3 entity awarded $1,500. If awarded to an individual, the contribution will be donated to a 501-c3 entity, with a housing focused mission of the awardee’s choice. Any 501 c-3 entity selected as a recipient of the award must serve, in a proportionate manner, housing needs in the Greater Louisville area. Only one award appointed within one year.

Some key qualities and actions that demonstrate a commitment to promoting fair housing practices are:

  • Nominees should have made a significant impact or efforts to advance fair housing and expand homeownership to traditionally underserved communities in their local community, either through their business or as a volunteer or advocate.
  • Demonstrates leadership in advocating for and promoting fair housing policies and practices on a local, state or federal level.
  • Engages in efforts to educate others about fair housing laws and anti-discrimination issues.
  • Successfully implemented initiatives or programs that improve access to fair housing for underserved or marginalized groups.
  • Effectively engages with community members, organizations, and other stakeholders to promote fair housing.
  • Works collaboratively with various groups to achieve common fair housing objectives.
  • Serve as a current or previous member of local, state or national DEI or Fair Housing Committee, and/or active member of a local or state Fair Housing/Civil Rights/Human Rights/Disabilities Services related agency or commission.
  • Completed AHWD, C2EX, and/or Fair Haven.
  • Evident commitment to fair and equitable housing for all.
  • Primary GLAR member or housing based non-profit local organization.
  • Any primary GLAR member recipient of the award will also be submitted to NAR Fair Housing Champion Award for consideration.

HONORS & RECOGNITIONS

GLAR’s 4 Under 40 Recognition Class

The 4 Under 40 Recognition Class is designed to honor the most ambitious and outstanding real estate professionals who have made significant contributions to their communities. Our 4 Under 40 celebrates and recognizes 4 dynamic individuals under the age of 40 who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and success in their careers.

This award celebrates the leaders of tomorrow who are shaping the future of the real estate landscape today! Recipients of this award are rising stars who have shown not only an outstanding professional track record in areas such as real estate sales, development, property management, or investment, but also a commitment to advancing the industry through creativity and dedication to community betterment.

Criteria:

  • GLAR primary member in good standing.
  • Must be 40 years of age or younger as of the award submission deadline.
  • A proven history of professional achievement in the real estate sector (sales, development, leasing, investment, or related areas).
  • Local, state and/or national association involvement.
  • Demonstrated leadership, innovation, and industry contribution.
  • Evident commitment to ethical practices and professionalism.
  • Community involvement or initiatives in social responsibility within real estate.

The recipient will be featured on social platforms and e-newsletter. Acknowledged at Annual Meeting.


Brokerage Spirit Honors

The Brokerage Spirit Honors recognizes honors brokerages that go beyond business success, dedicating time, resources, and leadership to support causes that uplift the community and create a positive impact on local social, economic, or environmental challenges. GLAR will recognize real estate brokerages that has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to giving back to the community through volunteerism, charitable efforts, and initiatives that improve the well-being of local residents.

Brokerages can self-nominate or be nominated. The criteria is not based on funds raised but on the effort of the brokerage to influence its members’ charitable outreach as a group.

Consideration for Recognition:

  • “Brokerage” can be defined as one (1) broker/agent or more.
  • The extent of the brokerage’s contributions to the community, such as the number of people or areas impacted and/or the significance of the improvements made.
  • Initiatives or projects that create lasting positive effects within the local community, such as long-term charitable partnerships, educational programs, or housing support.
  • The brokerage’s efforts to serve diverse, underrepresented, or marginalized communities, addressing issues such as affordable housing, homelessness, or inequality.
  • Broker’s encouragement of developing a culture of giving back, involving office members at all levels in service activities.
  • Recipient(s) may not receive the honors recognition in back to back years.
